It's Not Too Late to Plan Your Christmas Event

It's September and, this year especially, it’s felt like summer would never end. But, with just a few months left, the best venues are already filling up for December.

Now, if you’ve still not booked a thing, don't panic! We're not here to tell you that you've missed out, because you haven't. The only reason we mention timing at all is that we know that the earlier we talk to you, the more room we have to think properly about what your team would actually love.

That's the best and most fun bit, because a great Christmas event doesn't have to look the way you're picturing it.

Your Christmas event doesn't have to be a party

Say “Christmas do” and a lot of people picture the same thing: a bland function room, a set menu, a DJ and the same old Christmas bangers nobody asked for and a taxi or late train home at midnight.

We've built plenty of those and, done well, they're wonderful. Casino tables, entertainers, a jazz band, the full theme and shebang for a great party. But we've also spent a Tuesday afternoon round a table making wreaths; and that counted just as much.

What a Christmas event could look like:

·       Wreath or candle making, and our other creative workshops

·       Tabletop festive workshops that fit inside the working day, breaking it up for some down time

·       Entertainment for a drinks reception

·       Evening entertainment, from some great bands to hosted games

·       A fully themed night, from start to finish!

The traditional Christmas party is a great opportunity for some people to let their hair down but it can be totally awkward for others; what about the new starter who doesn't know anyone yet, the person who doesn't drink alcohol or the one who needs to be home in time for bedtime with the kids. A festive couple of hours in the afternoon isn't a lesser version of a party, very often it's the one where everybody turns up.

It tends to be better on the budget too, and there's nothing small about a team laughing together over glue guns, glitter and pine!

Who says it has to be December?

December diaries are a mad scramble. Venues are stretched, prices climb and half your team is already booked three deep with other events going on or because of family commitments.

Plenty of the companies we work with have stopped worrying about it though. Some celebrate in November, before the rush starts. Others wait until January, when everyone's back, the diaries are clear and morale could do with a new year lift. Nobody minds a late Christmas; they tend to mind being left out of one.

Give us time to think

How much notice do we need to give your event the thought it deserves? Enough to be imaginative.

With time, we can look at November, December and January, weigh up venues and suggest things you'd never have thought to ask for. With less time we can still make something fantastic happen, especially the indoor and smaller formats that don't depend on a bigger, all-booked-up scarce venue. But the earlier the conversation, the better the ideas.

Let's find the Christmas your team will actually enjoy

We're a family business and we've been doing this for over 30 years. That means we always ask about your people before we suggest anything. How many people, what they're like, whether they’re the type to be first onto the dance floor, trying to squeeze in an extra hour in the office or would honestly rather be home by six.

Then we build the version that suits them and your organisation, so nobody feels left out and everyone finds their place to enjoy the day.

There’s no wrong size of Christmas, and no wrong budget either. Tell us what you’re working with and what you’d like your team to take away from the day, and we’ll show you what’s possible from our festive activities.

Give us a call on 07767 250192 or email us at events@tag-events.com and let’s get a date in the diary before the good ones go.
