PitStop Challenge
Each team must design and build a working model racing car (c. 18” long) using only the equipment provided under the tight time constraints. In addition to the ‘engineering’ aspect, aesthetics are also important, thus each member of the team will have an important role to play. All cars must be “self-propelled” and cannot be aided by pushing, pulling or similar means. All cars must carry 4 pieces of “event related” advertising. Each team starts with an allocated amount of money, which will enable the crews to purchase parts from the Pit Stop Shop in order to build their racing car. Budgets have to be set, plans discussed and designs decided. At the end of the build period, all cars are raced individually on the track. The car that travels the furthest is declared the winner, but the resultant car designs often provide hilarious results as entrants propel themselves either forwards, backwards or not at all!
